The Road to Beijing:
Peters is a three time Olympian whose accomplishments include a bronze team medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Peters was born in Germany, and has been riding since he was child. In 1984 he was invited to work in a barn in San Diego. He moved permanently to the United States in 1985 and became a citizen in 1992. Four years later he represented his adopted country in the Atlanta Games.
Steffen has built upon his earlier training in Germany. He was Chronicle Horseman of the Year in 2006. He won the US National Grand Prix in Gladstone, NJ and the Team Bronze for the FEI World Equestrian Games, as well as placing fifth as an individual.
What to Watch For:
Any dressage rider must be a perfectionist and technician. Peters fits both those descriptions. Peters will be guiding Raval, a Ravel, a 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, through the intricate maneuvers required of a dressage horse in this level. Peters knows that in dressage, the horse doesn't make a mistake--the rider does. Look for Peters and Raval to impress in freestyle competitions.
Peters was born on September 18, 1964. He was born in Wesel, Germany. With his wife Shannon, he runs a dressage training barn in Escondido, California.
