Definition: A school, in British horse terms is the same as a riding ring or arena in North America. Occasionally in North America you will hear someone referring to a 'schooling ring', especially at horse shows where the warm-up area is separate from the show ring. In North America, to school your horse means to train it, usually while ridden. Schooling shows are shows intended as a practice for real competition.
Examples:
She rode her horse on trail because the school was too crowded.
