Heavy Traffic Areas
- I have cleared & dug out the area around the gates to my pastures. I then outlined the cleared area with railroad ties and then filled it in with small rock/shale. This has eliminated the muddy mess caused by horses congregating there & by going in & out of the pastures. It has also stopped the horses from either balking going through the gate or trying to jump over the muddy area. It also gives me a nice firm place to stand when haltering the horses.

Gates
- Make sure your gates are hung far enough off of the ground so if ice builds up under them they don't freeze in.
