Preventing Chewing of the Bit

How about trying a bit with a roller - it might relieve his boredom!

smooth thinking, no more tossing,bit,

Have a horse same habit, until I found a bit that on the shanks turns in and out and come in both styles curb and tom thumb, she lost the game. The movement in her mouth and on sides of her mouth enabled her to play. Finally a comfortable ride! Both of us happy riding ever after!

Bad Tasting Spray

You could try using a product like "No Chew" on the shanks of the bit, that tastes bad.
