Name for Fame

If you are buying a horse that you want to compete in big events make sure to name him/her a name that you would be proud to hear over the loud speakers.

Horses Names

I get names from different things, horses are all different and I hate common name's like Brownie or Blackie. They need somthing that defines them... My favorite horse is called Doolin. Find names that mean someone or names of famous people. Like Esmeralda means Emerald or Da vinci. I know a horse called One Direction, Odie for short. Finding the perfect name for a horse is hard work but remember to the horse it's just sound, they don't understand human language. You could call it Horse and as long as you say it like a name he would repsond the same.

Name your horse

What I do is, and it sounds funny but I ask the horse if he wants a name change. If it agrees a pick a couple of names and i name them out to him and se which one he likes.

Naming An Animal is a Skill

My Dad has the knack for naming animals. I inherited a little of his ability - My horse, Prairie, comes from the plains of SD. My dog growing up, Preacher, was found by a minister in the mountains of Montana. And probaby my favorite - the 3 dogs who come out to 'meet' me while running in the AM have been dubbed "Yes, No, and Maybe" because always leaps out, the other is right behind but not doing much, and the last just watches! Just give it some thought!

Oooh here are some more I came up with:

We are studying the Renaissance, so.....I think DaVinci is a good one, also extravagant names like Giovanni, or Giocanda (yes after the painting...), or maybe Renaissance Man.....all make your horse sound smart / elegant. That is always a good thing !

Cute names!!!

i think some cute names are: Hopscotch (for a child's jumper) , horses named after types of apple like Washington's Red or Golden Sweet, names in french like Soleil Brillant, or maybe in spanish...? I also like names that are from precious stones/minerals like Onyx Rainbow, or Jade Eyes, or Tiger's Eye, or Feldspar. or schist..... just kidding :)

Its not easy

I got a horse a couple of years ago and I wanted to re-name him cuase the name he had didnt suit him. So when i got him unloaded and let him run free in his new home, my mom and I picked the perfect name for him. . .Spiritual Digger, Digger for short. My mom came up with digger and i came up with Spiritual cuase when I turned him out, he ran up and down the fence digging up snow and dirt and he looked so graceful. He was also high sprited :). He had a great personality and his actions made it clear to what name he should have. :)
