Your Horse's Name and Age
Shiloh is approximately 10 years old. We believe he is a mix between walker/trotter/quarter horse. The picture was taken at a local horse show in the summer of 2009.
A few details about your horse.
I was pretty apprehensive about purchasing him because I was looking for a horse that I could show and just get out and ride by myself. I learned very quickly that Shiloh is a one owner horse. It took us getting kicked and having a nasty spill on our first group trail ride together before we clicked together. Ever since then he will not go around the rear end of a horse when I am on him. He is somewhat standoffish to those who he do not consider HIS! Shiloh does not like for just anybody to ride him, and he looks forward to our treks through the neighborhood and surrounding areas. I have learned that if I talk to him while we are riding, especially somewhere he has never ridden, that it calms him down and he doesn't startle as much when he experiences new things.
Tips and Tricks
- I have heard from people to not talk to your horse that it distracts them and such forth. I do not believe it and horses are really good listeners!! I have all boys aged 10, 9, 8, and 5 and going to the barn is my relaxation-even in the hottest of weather or the coldest of weather!! I have learned to "listen" to my horse when we are riding, and have learned to expect certain things from him since I can "read" what he is telling me in his body language.
