Reader Submissions: Horse Selling and Buying Scams - Your Stories

See Published Submissions

I’ve received responses to sales ads that refer to my horse as an ‘item’. Previously I received an almost identical email responding to an ad I’d placed to sell a set of used snow tires. Of course there’s also the Nigerian letter scam that appears in so many variations.

Have you run into a run into a con-artist or online scam when buying or selling a horse (or horse equipment)? Share your experience. Please don’t include specific dates, names or places. I’m looking for the types of scams that people should be aware of if they’re buying or selling a horse. Brush off your best writing skills and share your story.
