What is 4-H?:
4-H is a youth organization that provides learning opportunities and fun to children and young adults. There are regular educational meetings. Members also participate in demonstrations and exhibitions. 4-H is not just horse orientated but encompasses programs that include just about every facet of life--from cooking, computers, sports, and camera skills, to livestock and crop husbandry. Whatever your interest there probably is a 4-H program for you.
Why Join 4-H?:
When I was a member the motto was "Learn to Do By Doing" and most programs are very 'hands on'. Members learn many skills valuable on a personal and community level. There are opportunities for travel and scholarships as well. 4-H is a great place to have fun and meet new friends with common interests.
Who Can Join 4-H?:
There are opportunities for everyone with 4-H. Children and young adults may join as members and adults may volunteer as 4-H Leaders.
How Do I Join?:
What Is Available Through 4-H Horse Clubs?:
There are programs that cover almost every aspect of horse care, riding and driving. If you and several friends have a particular interest you may be able to encourage an adult to start a program if one does not already exist.
