#4: A sloping shoulder can indicate a smooth ride.

Definition: The shoulder runs from the withers to the point of the chest. Ideally the line of the shoulder should be about 45 degrees. If the shoulder is more upright, or ‘straight’ the horse’s stride will be shorter and its gaits may be more choppy and uncomfortable to ride.
Examples:
The horse had a very rough trot because of it's straight shoulder.
