The Road to Beijing:

This will be the first Olympic competition for Becky Holder after qualifying as an alternate for the 2000 Sydney Australia Summer Games. Holder started out in Pony Club and worked at a hunt club. Hard hunt riding prepared her for the rigors of eventing.

The Talent:

Holder will be riding Courageous Comet a 12 year-old Thoroughbred gelding . Holder has had training with some of the best in the world like Capt. Mark Phillips and Karen O'Connor. She has placed well in many CCI competitions; Concours Complet International events run by FEI rules. Holder and Courageous Comet finished second at the 2008 Kentucky Rolex Three Day Event competition ensuring her spot on the USET Olympic Team.

What to Look For:

Event riders will use every corner and straight away to re-balance their mounts between jumps. This is where partnership pays off and why horses can't be replaced at a moment's notice. Holder will know when to trust Courageous Comet's judgment and training and when to orchestrate every stride.

The Stats:

Rebecca 'Becky' Holder is 38 and calls Mendota Heights, MN home. She has been riding since she was 10 years-old. Besides competing she trains and instructs out of Carriage House Farm. Courageous Comet is an ex-racehorse, as are many of Holder's mounts. He stands 16.2 hands high and is a dappled gray.
