Definition: A horse that ducks its head down and stretches its neck forward, pulling the reins through the rider's hands is said to be rooting.
Also called hogging. Some horses learn that they can disobey their riders with this maneuver. To prevent the horse from rooting, the rider must be able to keep the horse moving with clear leg aids.
