My first horse, a 20 yr. old gelding named Jerry, was bought for me when I was 6 years old by my dad. We had 6 wonderful years together before illness took him from me. I just donated the saddle in the picture-a 1917 Army Packers Saddle to the museum at Ft. Bliss in Texas. I still have the bit and head stall and have never lost my weakness for palomino horses-having 4 mares at this time. It is true you only get that very special horse once in your life and I'm so glad my love for horses has carried on thanks to my first horse: Jerry.
