Every four years the World Equestrian Games brings together the world's best human and equine athletes. Eight equine sports are contested in this festival of horse sports that runs September 25 through to Sunday, October 10, 2010. All eight sports are governed by the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI). These sports are:

World Equestrian Games Schedule

The WEG Schedule will feature competitions on each day beginning with reining and the opening ceremonies on Day 1. Because many of the venues are outdoors they are somewhat at the mercy of Mother Nature, and the schedule may have to be altered to allow trails and courses to dry out.

World Equestrian Games History

The first World Equestrian Games were held in 1990. Since then the number of sports contested has grown and an increasing number of countries are participating. Read about the history of the WEG, its milestones, bumps and bruises.

This year, there are sixty countries competing in the WEG, which is the most countries participating in the WEG's history.

How Can You Compete in the World Equestrian Games?

The path to competing at the WEG in dressage, eventing, and stadium jumping is almost the same as if you were vying for an Olympic spot. There are programs for all the disciplines, like Young Riders, that offer the opportunity to compete at FEI events in preparation for high level competitions like the Olympics and World Equestrian Games.
