Does my horse need a vitamin supplement?

By Katherine Blocksdorf, About.com

Question: Does my horse need a vitamin supplement?
Answer: Vitamin deficiencies in horses are rare and many of the vitamins a horse needs it produces within its digestive system. Some people report that the addition of biotin to the horse’s diet increases hoof wall thickness or growth. Overall, a healthy horse getting high quality hay or pasture grass does not need a vitamin supplement.
