Answer: Your horses soundness and gaits should stay the same or improve with correct trimming and shoeing.

If your horse has a problem with its hooves your farrier may recommend special shoes to help correct the problem. Corrective shoeing has saved many horses from a life of discomfort. But many problems can be solved by good regular maintenance. If the treatment seems too costly or involved don’t hesitate to get a second (and third) opinion.

Poor shoeing can cause problems like corns, interference and contracted heels. If problems arise discuss possible solutions with your farrier and never be afraid to ask for a second or third opinion. The shape and health of your horses hooves should be stay the same or improve with shoes.
