Saddling Up!

Thursday April 12, 2007
saddling upAfter being arena bound all winter we've been anxious to be outside. The trails are dry and the puddles are gone from the ring. It's time to saddle up and head out (without freezing to the saddle). Step one, of course, is to give our horses a good grooming to get rid of that mud and loose hair. Then it is time to saddle up. One step in saddling up that is often overlooked is to get rid of the wrinkles under the girth. The buckles on an English girth are pretty straight forward but how to tie a Western girth shows you how to make sure your Western saddle is properly secured before you mount up.
