Vacations on Horseback

Thursday January 31, 2008
It's official. I'm frozen. Photos like this make me wish I could pack my horse up in a suitcase and head for a warm sunny beach. But I can't, so I'll just have to enjoy these holiday photos from Susan Breslow Sardone, Your About Guide to Honeymoons and Romantic Getaways. (Have you been riding on a holiday? Tell me about your horseback vacation in the comments below. Maybe being jealous will keep me warm.)

We have only ridden locally in the mountains on vacations. The only far away horsey vacation we took was going to Chincoteague and Assateague islands. Someday I want to take one of our horses to the beach and ride, which is over 8 hours away in a car. If anyone knows of any place on the east coast VA/MD area that you can ride on the beach with your own horses let me know! I know at certain times of the year you can bring horses on to Assateague island but the warmer months there are horrible for mosquitoes.
