The Importance of Hoof Care

Basic horse care includes proper hoof care. Neglecting your horse's hooves can be devastating. Horse, pony, donkey and mule hooves need to be trimmed every 6 to 8 weeks. If not, hoof overgrowth can lead to disfigurement and pain. Such was the case with Patches, a pony rescued by the Harrisburg Humane Society. The photograph that accompanies the ABC network story is difficult for most horse lovers to look at.
