I disagree with your “myth” saying that horses don’t enjoy the work we ask them to do.
If you are relying on your own personal experiences then maybe you need to seriously consider changing your riding/care program to make your horses happy, because my horses enjoy their work 100%.
Yes, I have seen many horses in the show world who are not happy what so ever, especially barrel race horses who are terrified and running for their lives! BUT when I take my horse cross country schooling or just into a regular riding lesson with my coach, they are happy/content and show it in many ways. When my coach will ask us to jump a new scary jump, my horse always throws a baby feeling good wiggle after the fences. NOT because hes mad, but because hes proud of what he just did! He is thrilled to go out and do it again for me!
I also disagree with your myth regarding horses don’t enjoy work.
I may just be a pleasure rider but my horse still is asked to work. My old mare loves taking me out back on the trails. She always comes to the gate when called and has never ever put a foot wrong. If she didn’t enjoy our regular outings in the woods, then there are many ways she would let me know. I’ve never had any problems.
Theres my opinion!
