Can Your Horse Make You Sick?

If you live on the east coast of the United States you might be noticing that Eastern Equine Encephalitis is making headline news in many newspapers. In one case school was canceled and sports re-scheduled to avoid mosquitoes that carry the disease.

Can you catch EEE from your horse? The answer is, no. Mosquitoes carry the virus after biting birds and can infect horses, humans, dogs and wildlife.
