On the Sixth Day of Horses, my true love gave to me...six helpful horse books.

I love books. After real estate, they are one of my favorite gifts to receive. New books, used books, ebooks, it doesn't matter. And one of my favorite books is Gallop to Freedom: Training Horses with the Founding Stars of Cavalia. Of course, you can't truly learn to ride, drive or train a horse from a book (website or DVD) for that matter. The best and safest way to learn is with a coach or instructor. But you can learn a tremendous amount about horses, riding, driving, health, horse care and various methods of training and other horse facts from books. This particular book is a favorite because it demonstrates what can be done with focus, compassion and dedication mixed with a passion for learning.

Books on the different breeds are a timeless gift for armchair horse lovers.

I was lucky that my dad was a horse lover so I got to grow up with a pony and my dad always kept one or two horses. The last horse was sold after I went away to college. No one had time or energy necessary to love and care for them like we always had. They are a lot of work! I’ve pined for one ever since. Still love the smell of horse manure. LOL
