On the Eleventh Day of Horses, my true love gave to me...eleven easy keepers. Of course, that's a few too many horses to fit on my ten amazing acres. But I can dream right? Of all the nights of the year, this seems to be the most fitting for dreaming the big dreams.

Not all horses are easy keepers, like my girl pictured here, and some don't thrive in the cold weather, and may need a little extra in terms of warmth or feed. Providing lots of good hay is essential, as is water that isn't frigid. As you're tucking your horses in for their long winter's nap tonight, be sure to leave them with plenty of hay and bring a bucket of hot water out to take the chill off of their water buckets, ensuring all a good night.
