In addition to my helmet, boots and gloves, I've started wearing a crash vest while I ride. While all the safety gear in the world won't make you bulletproof, it does make sense to protect yourself as much as you can. What items of safety equipment have you used when you are riding a horse? If you've used something not listed on the poll, leave your comment below.

Does sunscreen count?
Gloves potentially, too.
Sunscreen is very important, but a helmet would be better at protecting your head from the sun and a lot of other things.
I really wish I had thought to wear safety gear before taking my first solo horse ride. I started off fine enough, but then decided to try canter then full gallop. Unfortunately for me, our horse stopped quite suddenly from the gallop, throwing me. Suffice to say, I wasn’t too eager to get back on for a long time.
