Photo 2009 K. BlocksdorfIf there is one thing that I'm thankful for, it's time with my horse that allows me to focus and unwind. I simply can't think a negative or worried thought while I'm on my horse's back. Just being with her quiet presence, currying and polishing, is calming. Chances are, if there are horses in your life, you've got a lot to be thankful for. I am so thankful for Trillium, who has taught me so much. I know having horses has allowed me to meet people and have experiences that I may not have had otherwise. I'm thankful to my family, who make it easy to keep all of our horses. I'm thankful that I have a daughter, who is already a better rider than I am, and shares my enjoyment. I'm thankful for my husband and son, who put up with it all. Horses are a luxury. It's easy to take the ownership of one (or many) for granted. I'm also very thankful for chance the share what I know (and it seems so little sometimes) with you and contribute to your enjoyment of horses. What are you thankful for? Leave your comments below.

You’re so right – it is easy to take horse ownership for granted.
Like you, I am so thankful for my family, our health, our shared love of horses. And also for the many gorgeous lessons we all continue to learn from the horses in our lives. I am constantly amazed by all things my horses teach me. And I see my daughters learning so much also.
I am thankful that my girls would still rather be in the stalls than the malls! Long may it last!
Happy Thanksgiving!

I love horses they are the best thing that has ever happend to me!!
I’m thankful for an arena to ride in…I went without one for a year and half, and it’s quite nice to be back to riding in an enclosed space.
I am thankfull for being 65 and still enjoying horses. I have to enjoy them thru my Grandaughters riding though, as a car accident put me out of commission for riding. The nickers of Hellos are wonderful as I go out to feed every morn. They make all the pain and the bad feelings just melt away. Thank you God for such a wonderful creature.
I am thankful to be financially secure enough to be able to feed and care for my horses, and to be able to keep them at home – there are so many that have had to surrender beloved companions due to financial constraints.
I am thankful for my gals really great feet, amazing personality, and sweetness!!
I’m thankfull that my dad even allowed me to have a horse!
And I’m REALLY thankfull that he got me TWO!!:)
I am thankful for my horse, Arabella…Bella…for short…she is an amazingly beautiful creature. When I feel down, all I need to do is go to the barn, saddle up and ride Bella. She is a fiesty energetic 6 yr. old sorrel that has the ability to wipe away all of my gloomy emotions…I thank God for her. I also thank God for my husband’s horse, Lacey Lady, a Ky. Mt. Saddlehorse, a beautiful glossy black beauty….
I am thankful for the wonderful farm that I inherited from my family that needed a lot of work. Repairing, improving, and taking care of this grand lady has given me a deeper appreciation of her wealth. I am most grateful for my horses, all five, for their grace, their fiestiness, their impishness, their stoicism, their talent and their ability to get me up before dawn in the cold, anxious to see them. I am much blessed for a husband and a daughter who are active participants in my immersion in equines. I am fortunate to have my health and the ability to work to pay for my great loves and to ride and enjoy them. At 55 years, I’m still able to keep up with those much younger. Thanks to you, oh Lord, for these, my many blessings.
I am thankful I am still able to keep my horse even with the economy. I am struggling like others I’m sure and have had to cut back on things both at home and the ‘extras’ for my horse (treats etc) but he is my sanity,my friend and companion.
Right on. I am thankful the most for my horses. Despite the work they may be, just being with them brings me peace. No matter what happens during the day, I always know as long as my horses are safe and in good health everything is going to be alright.
