What Astrological Sign is Your Horse?

Tuesday May 26, 2009
This was going to be a poll, but polls only have the option of ten selections and there are twelve astrological sun signs so it wouldn't fit. I have to admit I'm pretty skeptical about the validity of astrology for people and horses. Horoscopes are fun to read, but is there a shred of truth in it? Many horse magazines have equine astrological forecasts. I don't know Trillium's birthdate, but comparing her personality to descriptions of sun signs, I'm going to guess she's a dependable, responsible Virgo like me. (Of course most horses are born between January and June. ) Thor was born April 6, and Sampler April 13, which makes them both fiery Aries. Do you know what sun sign your horse is? Is your horse's personality in line with its sign? Leave your comments below.

My pal, Sizzle, may be a Pisces, but his Morgan heritage trumps the Pisces traits of “feeling overwhelmed, being impressionable and lazy.” Sizzle is intelligent, kind, up for anything, energetic, sound as a pound, generous and honest. For his 28th birthday, I may have to buy him a saddle pad that reads “OLD GUYS RULE!”

My mare is a early January capricorn. She is ambitious – when not being lazy. Very self-reliant – second in command in the big herd. Disciplined? Well, overall very reliable. Perservering – when it comes to finding food. Resourceful – oh yea. Goes with creative – always taking everything one-by-one out of the tack box or the locker if she can get to it. Also figured out how to dunk dry hay in a water bucket before eating. She’s pretty loving and funny!

My birthday is April 13th and Jiggs birthday is April 15th. YES we are both true blue Aries to the core. Jiggs is an Ex- Race Horse who won over $40,000 in his Racing career. He is very sensitive and kind and very much a Trickster. He loves getting your attention by getting food any way he can and he does not care if it is horse food or human food. My Canadian girlfriend called him The Walking Stomach. Unfortunately he was starved to death twice and the lady i bought him from rescued him and then I bought him from her and she was able to give me all the info on him and he was 9 years old when I got him in in June of 1997. He is the most sensitive horse I have ever ridden and Ive been riding horses in Jumping Eventing and Dressage since 1987. When it came time to finally get a horse of my own that I could ride for Dressage only then he was the perfect choice because of his really nice gaits and a canter to die for. We are so well suited for each other because both of us are a nervous wreck at Dressage Shows. But we still managed to place with some really nice tests and ribbons. He is my one and only son and I thank God every day for putting Jiggs into my life. He is now 21 years old and goes better now than he ever did. He is a true aries no questions asked.

My Percheron mare, Gracie, is a Pisces. Her birthday is Feb. 27. 1993 is the year she was born. I have had her since she was 5 years old. She is a beautiful girl. She is not docked so her tail is long and thick. Her mane is long and hangs past her neck. She is a grey and still has a lot of grey color on her.
