When is the Best Time of Year to Buy a Horse?

Autumn is my favorite time of year for riding and I look forward to the crisp days ahead with their woodsy scents and brilliant colors. Autumn has been traditionally the time for horse prices to drop. Because we may be facing a hay shortage in this area, lots of horse owners feel there will be a lot of 'cheap' horses for sale soon. Is autumn the best time to buy a horse?
