I admit, I am a bit skeptical when it comes to the idea of inter-species communication. In an effort to learn more about it, I did take a short course a few years ago. It did little for my skepticism. I found most of the people there had just had an animal die, and the animal communicated to them from the after life that they planned to return to them as soon as possible. Shortly before, I had lost my much loved mare Freya. I couldn't help but ask (myself), if I were she, would she really return to me, given other choices?
I also think, that with a living animal, a perceptive, knowledgeable person can make a lot of deductions based on the behavior they see before them. Many communicators work from photos and have little, if any background information. This is what keeps me skeptical, but not entirely dismissive. Why does my horse have a skittish personality? from Phylameana lila Desy, About Guide to Holistic Healing is an example of a reading by an animal communicator. I think in this case the owner answered her own questions. What do you think? Click 'comments' below and share your thoughts.

I had an experience years ago that involved an animal communicator. Prior to that and even since, I have been quite skeptical of many who claim that they can speak on an animal’s behalf. But in my case where a communicator was involved, the communication and subsequent hands on work done on the horse, in my opinion, was the turning point between sure death and his ultimate recovery. Veterinary treatment alone had not been able to get this horse to make the turn around and a vet was on standby to euthanize at any time. Within 30 minutes of the experience, this horse began making measurable improvement. After 6 days, the attending vet said he could only say that with what he had seen this horse go through, the only explanation regarding his recovery was that, in his words, this horse “was a gift from God.”
I am certainly not out to change anyone’s outlook, but know mine changed that night.
My experience with an animal communicator was rather humerous. I had owned my now deceased QH since the day he was born. In order to prove a point, I told the animal communicator that I had just bought him from a sale and would like to know his background. She went on and on about his “past” and how glad he was to have found me after his terrible past. When she was finished, I handed her his registration papers—showing me as his breeder and sole owner for his entire life. We didn’t hear much about her around here after that.
The barn that I was managing brought a gelding in to try for a lesson program for older beginners. I grew up with horses and know the variety of personalities and challenges some animals have or have had, physical and/or mental. He was to untrusting and skittish to be a lesson horse for any level. I told the lesson people that. They got him anyway since he was cheap. He dumped off a few students and “instructors.” They being “progessive” in thinking hired a communicator. She came out to talk to him and said he was abused and scared of people from what they did to him in the past. I just started laughing and held it in until I could walk away. She did nothing but look at the obvious clues as I had done He had scars in his mouth and lips from severe bits and hands. Plus, he was so jumpy and untrusting. They put him up for sale. The woman that owns him loves him. It took her a year but they have bonded and he has relaxed and enjoys time with his person. He is a one person horse and with a gentler hand he is happy and I do not need to have an animal communicator tell he that. I just “see” it in their body language, and no I am not a communicator.
We’ve had a communicator out several times for all the horses in our barn. She has done a good job. I wasn’t sure she could do it, but she has time and time again proved that she can do it most of the time. The few things that are odd are the times, I consider a translation issue. You know how it’s not easy to translate different languages exactly word for word, and that’s what I think happens now and again.
The one time I remember, this one horse said that she hates cows, and that they are stupid. Then she goes on to say that geese are easier to herd. Now, why would she say that? Wouldn’t you know it, I was there, watched from the barn, while mucking stalls, two geese walk into the pasture. She walked up to them and they walked away. I watch this whole thing by myself. Who else would have known that?
I agree though, watch who you get. Not everyone can communicate with animals and the dead.
