While most of North America seems to be blanketed in high summer temperatures most horse owners worry about keeping their horses cool, as well as themselves. In our paddock we rarely see the horses come out of the shade of the run-in shelter except for water—which they drink in large quantities. Every now and then we head out with buckets and sponges or the garden horse and give everyone a cool bath and only venture out for a ride in the cool of early morning. Here are more ideas for keeping your horses cool while the weather is hot.
