Protecting Horses From Mosquitos

Many of us in the Northern Hemisphere are grateful for the arrival of summer. But summer comes with bugs, and this year the mosquitoes seem especially vicious. Not only are mosquitoes and other biting pests such as horse and deer flies irritating, causing our horses to shake their heads, stamp, twitch and swish their tails, they also carry diseases and we’ve all heard about the dangers of West Nile Virus. What can you do to protect your horse from biting insects? Here is some information from University of Florida IFAS Extension that might help you and your horse feel less bugged.
